Yann LeGall is a research associate at the Institute of Art History at the Technical University of Berlin and a member of Berlin Postkolonial e.V. and the Potsdam Postkolonial initiative. He wrote his doctorate on the return of human remains from the colonial era and transnational culture of remembrance. Together with Anna von Rath, he developed an audio guide on traces of colonial history in Potsdam, where he also leads critical city tours. In his current research project "The Restitution of Knowledge", he examines spoils of war from so-called "punitive expeditions" that are still in German museums today.
